Geekery and attitude

I just have a few minutes before I need to go eat lunch and head off for clinicals: ICU this week. I dreaded my return to school after spring break to the point that I fell into a terrible depression and wasted an entire day I should have had free and easy! I’m not gonna make it to December if I can’t get past this early and severe case of burnout and disillusionment, so I decided to fake it ’til I make it. I decided I am GOING to be positive (so help me). I made it through yesterday without once wanting to scream, which is a huge success. Today I’m trying positivity again. I keep thinking of that scene in “Knocked Up”: today we’re going to be positive! Positive positive positive!

Also to cheer myself up I got an iPod Touch. Sometimes I just need a shiny toy to occupy myself and derail unconstructive thought patterns! All vices considered, it’s not too bad. I planned to play with it and then return it, but I actually really like it. It works a lot better than my Centro as a PDA. Missing Sync goes only so far. I don’t mind the missing to-do support because I use Remember the Milk and Sandy, which push events into iCal anyway. More on this later.

Finally, I ordered 2 GB of RAM from Crucial ($50! I remember spending like $300 for 4 *MB* for my first Mac!) and put it in my MacBook, which now feels very slick and fast. Definitely money well spent. I didn’t get the RAM seated well enough the first time around, which nearly caused me to have heart failure when it didn’t boot up, but I tried again and it worked fine. I feel like a technical genius, but that doesn’t take much…

    CHIN UP BUTTERCUP!
Nursing school sucks and the only good that ever comes of it is Graduation and a job.
    That is it.

Woot for 4GB! Oh and ICU rocks! Best placement ever. :D
School doesn’t last forever… the light at the end of the tunnel just dims occasionally.

As a second degree student also graduating in dec I totally dig you! I just found your blog by linking to links of links of people i read. Weird, but thats how the blog world works. I felt exactly the same after SB, and this is the weekend post SB and I am totally demoralized again. I am burned out with nursing school right now, especially on the fast track program. Good luck!
