The new Change of Shift is up at NJO Blog. I was most interested in the Nurse Blog Survey Results because I’m VERY easy to amuse. I was even quoted on it (”To return the favor…give other bloggers something to read!”), so I feel a falsely elevated sense of importance. I was surprised to learn that most nurses are not online. I don’t know anyone who’s not online. Where are these people? I’m still interested in the anonymous-blogging issue. Looks to me like for the most part if people do know about the blog, they don’t care. That’s the case for me. I’ve actively tried to get friends and family interested in my blog, and they never read it. ;(
Speaking of bloggery and other online geekery (smooth segue, eh?), I’ve been messing around with Flock, the new wicked cool browser from Mozilla. It imported all my stuff from Firefox without a hitch and runs my beloved gmail checker extension just fine, but the fun only STARTS there. It integrates an RSS reader (a way better one than Firefox’s) and lets you consolidate accounts from Flickr, WordPress, del.icio.us, Blogger, You Tube, and a few others. It has a nifty web clipboard. You can have your media stream of choice float along above the top of your browser, and you can use Flock to upoad directly into your Flickr account. It’s got some rough edges and some things are lacking, but it provides PROFOUND integration over plain old Firefox. I’m enjoying it. I have two blogs, and I like being able to dash off an entry and post without having to stop what I’m doing, log in, la la la. It wasn’t THAT big of a hassle, but the new interface is definitely handy.
Other cool stuff I’ve dug up:
- Jumpcut, which is a video/photo site. It lets you actually compile and edit video on the site and then embed it. If WordPress allowed scripts to run in free accounts I’d be switching there from blip.tv. It integrates with Flickr, so you can import pics and make them into videos…I’ll be wasting a lot more time there, I’m sure.
- Freesound, which is a giant collection of, well, free sounds. I wanted the sound of rain on a tent, and this site had about a dozen to choose from. Very cool.
Okeydoke then. I’m off to hit the town and listen to the Pink Socks and Honeywagen. My head will definitely be banging. ![]()

Actually, I didn’t mean to imply that the nurses weren’t online, it’s just that they don’t spend a whole lotta time there.
Anyhoo. Thanks for those great links- I’ve been meaning to check out Flock for awhile now and you just gave me the impetus!
